The Power of Now by Echart Tolle is the ultimate book about spiritual enlightenment everyone must read once in their lives Useful to anyone who is curious about spirituality, the ego, the mind and purpose.

The Power of Now will awaken and shake you to the core. Not an easy read as it will get your mind thinking, it is set out like a handbook with a series of questions and answers.

A thought-provoking book that challenges the way you think. Creatives and writers I think will get a lot out of this book, after all, resistance is a creation of the mind.

I was slow to read The Power of Now but really wish I had of picked the book up ten years ago. Having suffered from non-a stop monkey mind, negativity, procrastination and persistent resistance, The Power of Now would have been so helpful in my twenties!

All true artists, whether they know it or not, create from a place of no-mind, from inner stillness’ – The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle

Principles for Creatives and Writers

Eckhart Tolle says ‘creation is resting in presence, which is the true source of creativity and your true identity’ which is why the first step is awareness and being the observer of those thoughts that causes you constantly live in the past or future.

When we create we often get lost in our work, lose all sense of time, some call it ‘the zone’, this is the now. The place where you trade time (which is what the mind lives by) for eternity. Our creative work can be the portal into the now.

We were created to create

Steven Pressfield’s The War of Art famously created the concept of ‘resistance’ but resistance can be seen as the ego and the mind constantly wanting you to think of past failures, why you’re not worthy of writing, why you shouldn’t write and do something else. It never stops.

Accessing the now allows you tap into your essence of creation and therefore create.
